BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - If you're driving to First Baptist Church in north Biloxi today, you'll want to avoid Popp's Ferry Road. The city has a section of Popp's Ferry Road closed between Cedar Lake and Lamey Street. The barriers are up so workers can install drainage systems as part of the widening of that stretch of Popp's Ferry Road.
The improvement project is part of a more than six million dollar plan to widen a one section of Popp's Ferry Road from two to four lanes.
Motorists should use either Cedar Lake Road or Lamey Street as an alternate route. The work will actually take place between Ellington and Brentwood Drives.
A city news release says the road closed barriers will be removed at sunset.
