The Biloxi Shuckers used the pitching of Tyler Wagner in game one and timely hitting to defeat Jackson 5-0 in game one in seven innings.
Wagner went the distance, gave up only one hit, tossed 5 strikeouts and got the Generals to ground out 13 times in posting his eighth win of the season against 5 losses.
Wagner said, "We can only focus on what we're doing right now and we're trying to get better everyday and I think I've been doing that. Tonight catcher Adam Weisenburger and I worked perfectly and kept the Generals off the scoreboard."
The Shuckers scored 3 runs in the bottom of the third inning. Nathan Orf ripped a two run single that plated Taylor Green and Adam Weisenburger.
Victor Roache hit a grounder to the Generals second baseman who threw to first for one out, Roache was safe at first and Nick Shaw was able to score from third base.
Weisenburger came through with a sacrifice fly ball into right field and Nick Ramirez extended the Shuckers lead 4-0 as he tagged and galloped home.
Taylor Green smacked a sac fly into right field, Victor Roache tagged and scored from third in the bottom of the sixth to give the Shuckers a 5-0 advantage.
Wagner ended the game by getting the Generals to hit into a double-play.
The Shuckers won game two 5-3 to even the five-game series at two games apiece with the rubber game set for 7:10 p.m. Saturday at MGM Park.
Biloxi scored a run in the bottom of the first, three runs in the 4th inning and a run in the sixth.
Hobbs Johnson started the game for the Shuckers. He gave up 3 runs on 3 hits with 2 strikeouts and 2 base on balls in four innings.
Jacob Barnes posted the win to improve to 3-4 with a 3.32 earned run average.
Victor Roache the Player of the Week last week had 3 RBI and continues to come up with timely hits.
