OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - A strong-willed teller with a stapler foiled a robbery attempt Thursday morning at The Money Center inside Walmart in Ocean Springs. Police say around 8:30 a.m. a man walked into the store on Highway 90 and handed a clerk a note threatening to kill the teller unless the teller gave him all the money in the drawers.

Ocean Springs Police Captain William Jackson told WLOX News there was a small scuffle when the clerk told the would-be robber "No" and refused to give him any money.

"The teller picked up a stapler and tried to fend him off," Jackson said, adding when the clerk called for a manager, the man took off.

Jackson described the suspect as a black man about six feet tall with a slim build wearing a red hat and black hoodie. He reportedly got away in a 2000-2002 Silver Honda Accord with a sunroof with two other people inside. Police don't yet know which direction the car went on Highway 90 after leaving the Walmart lot.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call the Ocean Springs Police Department at (228) 875-2211 or Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898.
