Mississippian wins gold in the Special Olympics

JACKSON, MS (WLOX) - Kyle Dutiel of Brandon won a Gold Medal in the equestrian competition of the 2015 World Games in Los Angeles. Dutiel topped the Silver Medalist by eight points, with a final score of 58.

The Equitation competition, involves a rider's ability to ride a horse correctly and with effective aids. The Special Olympics athlete said, "It feels good, it feels really good."

Tony Bahou, president and CEO of Special Olympics Mississippi, said, "We are proud of Kyle and all that he has accomplished, not only for Special Olympics USA, but also for all of our athletes back in Mississippi."

Dutiel is on his third trip to the World Games for Mississippi. He won a Bronze Medal in 1999, and a Silver and Bronze in 2003. Dutiel has an opportunity to win two more medals during competitions on Thursday and Friday.
