BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Tips from the public helped Biloxi police identify a suspect wanted in connection with a burglary at a storage facility.

Sergeant O'Neil Adams reports Shane Shelby Jr., 29 of Biloxi, was arrested Wednesday morning for two counts of burglary and one count of felony receiving stolen property. Those charges come after an incident at Store-By-U on Woolmarket Road.

Investigators said employees noticed a suspicious man trying to use the gate keypad Tuesday afternoon. According to a press release, when an employee confronted the man, the suspect took off in a vehicle. But another employee snapped a picture of the man and the vehicle before he got away.

Once police arrived at the scene, officers discovered that several storage units had been broken into.

The Biloxi Police Department released the photo to media outlets and less than 12 hours later, investigators identified and located Shelby. When he was found, police report Shelby was driving a stolen vehicle from a dealership in D'Iberville. That vehicle was stolen July 1.

Shelby was taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center and given a $250,000 bond. He's also being held for an outstanding MDOC warrant with no bond.
