NEW ORLEANS, LA (WLOX) - Character has become the name of the game in the NFL. If a player does something to tarnish his name and that of the NFL, that player will pay the consequences.
A question of character surrounded New Orleans Saints linebacker Junior Galette in recent months. Those questions of character were unveiled after the 27-year-old Galette signed a four-year, $41.5 million contract extension last September.
According to ESPN's source, Galette must take a physical this weekend before the Saints can officially release him.
Galette was arrested in January on allegations of domestic violence, but that case has been dismissed. There was another incident that hung another cloud over Galette's head when a 2013 video was released in July. That video shows someone who resembles Galette allegedly swinging and hitting a woman with a belt on a beach.
The NFL is still reviewing allegations against Galette. His attorney has said that there's no proof that the person in the video is Galette.
Over the past two seasons, Galette has become the Saints top pass-rusher with 22 sacks.
If Galette is released, he won't be hurting for money. He was expected to make $1.25 million in 2015 and he was paid a guaranteed $12.5 million bonus.
