Important primary election deadlines coming up

Mississippians will head to the polls Aug. 4 to vote in the primary elections.

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann said, "This is a big election year in Mississippi. Most statewide offices are on the ballot. We encourage you to take the time to educate yourself on the candidates, and participate in the electoral process by registering to vote." 

If you plan to vote absentee in person, you must do so by Saturday, Aug. 1 at 12 p.m. You can pick up a ballot from the circuit clerk's office in the county of your residence.

If you plan to vote by mail, your ballot must be received by the circuit clerk no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3.  

Offices will have special hours on Saturday, July 25 from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m.
