GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Hundreds of families from across the Southeast are on the Coast, cheering on their favorite players in a large, fast-pitch softball tournament. Around 126 teams are participating in the event, which runs through this weekend.

It's the largest such tournament ever hosted at the Gulfport Sportsplex. Along with attending softball games, these hundreds of families will also be eating at area restaurants, staying at local hotels and taking in tourist attractions. Many of the adults will also be spending money at Coast casinos.

Coaches and fans say they love the softball facility in Gulfport and enjoy the hospitality of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Steve Phillips will tell you more about the impact this tournament has on the Coast’s economy tonight on WLOX News and WLOX.com.
