BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The future of Mississippi's state flag is continuing to be debated in the business community. This morning, the Biloxi Chamber of Commerce and the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce hosted a breakfast with Mayor FoFo Gilich.
Last week, members of the Gulf Coast Business Council called for a change in the state flag. This morning, chamber members echoed those same thoughts.
Many said it was time to place the flag in the museum instead of flying over the state.
Some feel the flag, with the Confederate battle emblem in the corner, is divisive. Many also said it could stop businesses and industry from coming to the state. They also feel it hurts the image of the state.
Doug Walker was at the event this morning, and will have details on the story tonight on WLOX News and on WLOX.com.
