Gulfport Biloxi Int'l Airport reopens runway after brief closure

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - The nose gear of a single engine plane collapsed when it landed Wednesday afternoon at the Gulfport Biloxi International Airport.

No one on board the Cessna 172 was injured when the retractable nose gear gave way upon landing on the main runway at the airport.  But the accident shut down the main runway at the airport while the plane was removed.

Director of Operations and Maintenance Casey Lyons told WLOX News the accident delayed the departure of one commercial flight.
