BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - A morning power problem at Keesler Federal Credit Union caused problems for customers all day Tuesday, limiting withdraws, debit card use and preventing access to online banking services.
Credit union officials told WLOX News the power issue happened at its headquarters on Pass Road in Biloxi and the switch to the backup generator failed. That failure impacted all electronic systems.
A few customers were unable use debit cards, according to Sharon Keller, vice president of Marketing.
"Most debit cards worked," Keller said, "but authorizations were made on balances from yesterday. Usually, we have up to the minute balances for customers."
A message posted to KFCU's website alerted online customers of the issue. With computer systems down, Keesler's 190,000 customers around the world could not make electronic transfers or payments. Customers who visited branches Tuesday were limited to $200.
"All member data and funds are secure," Keller said.
The problems created by the power failure should be resolved by midnight.
