GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Transportation service Uber will be pulling out of the Gulfport and Biloxi area. The ride-sharing company made the announcement late Monday.
Uber said the Harrison County Motor Vehicle For Hire Authority has refused to create reasonable rules for companies like Uber. As we previously reported, talks have been going on since June to try to get the cost effective transportation company in compliance with the rules currently in place.
Drivers in the Gulfport area will only be able to use the Uber app to secure a ride until Wednesday night.
Uber representatives said they'd be happy to return to South Mississippi if local officials decide to change their rules.
