It's been a long battle, but Uber will likely be leaving South Mississippi. Talks have been going on since June to try to get cost effective transportation company in compliance with the rules governed by the Harrison County Motor Vehicle for Hire Authority.
According to the Authority's director, Wes Pfeiffer, regulations for Uber were adopted this week. However, an Uber representative said the company can't operate here because of the requirement to register their drivers.
Pfeiffer said Uber does not want any regulatory authority having oversight of its drivers.
