Tyler Wagner got the starting call for the Biloxi Shuckers on Saturday and gave up 3 runs on 7 hits, 4 base on balls and 3 strikeouts in 5.2 innings and suffered his fourth loss of the season against six wins.
Biloxi grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning on a Josh Fellhauer single into right field that plated Adam Weisenburger.
That led didn't last for long. In the bottom of the third the Smokies pulled away from the Shuckers on a two run single off the bat of Elliott Soto.
Bottom of the fourth inning Jacob Hannemann who went 2 for 4 hit a sacrifice fly ball that scored Wes Darvill from third base and the Smokies led 3-1.
Tennessee pitcher Ryan Williams gave up only 1 run on 4 hits and 5 strikeouts in 6 innings and posted his fourth win of the season against no defeats.
Jed Bradley pitched 1.1 innings for the Shuckers. He gave up 3 runs on 3 hits with 2 strikeouts. Weisenburger led the Shuckers at the plate by hitting safely in 2 trips to the plate in 3 at-bats.
The Shuckers lead the Smokies series 2 games to 1 with game four tomorrow afternoon at 4:05. Another big crowd is expected at Smokies Stadium. In Saturday's game 6,648 fans were in attendance.
The loss dropped Biloxi out of first-place in the Southern League South Division standings. The Shuckers 51-33 overall are now 8-8 in the second half of the season.
