ESCATAWPA, MS (WLOX) -

Moss Point police have a bank robbery suspect in custody. Police Chief Art McClung told WLOX News the Hancock Bank on Highway 613 in Escatawpa was robbed around 1:30 p.m. Friday.

McClung said 38-year-old Edwin Chambers III, of Jackson, walked into the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money and suggesting he had a weapon. Police say Chambers never pulled out a weapon, and no one in the bank was injured.

McClung said Moss Point officers and Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies quickly closed in and arrested Chambers on Old Saracennia Road.

Officials say the money stolen from the bank has been recovered, and the case is being turned over to the FBI.
