Have worries about water safety in the Mississippi Sound hurt tourism this summer? That apparently depends on who you ask.

"People ask us all the time if it's safe to get in the water," said one Biloxi beach vendor. "All that talk about the water has certainly hurt our business."

Renee Areng, Executive Director of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the big picture is bright. She says the safety of visitors is certainly a concern. We found some mixed reaction among beach vendors about the water worries costing them business. Two vendors said it's definitely been a negative impact this summer, while a third said not so much.
