Biloxi Shuckers series win streak comes to an end following 10-7 loss to Montgomery

The Biloxi Shuckers needed to beat Montgomery to even the 5-game series at 2 wins apiece.  It didn't happen.  The Biscuits prevailed 10-7 and picked up win number 3 against 1 loss to the Shuckers with game five set for 7:05 p.m. Wednesday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Johnny Hellweg started his first game on the mound for the Shuckers and gave up 5 runs on 2 hits, 5 base on balls, and 2 strikeouts in 2.1 innings. Shuckers newcomer Derek Eitel relieved Hellweg and he lasted 1.2 innings.  The Biscuits scored 2 earned runs against Eitel on 3 hits and 1 base on ball.  Eitel recorded 3 strikeouts.  Martin Viramontes and Manny Berreda pitched the final four innings.  Hellweg (0-1) suffered the loss.

A total of 12 walks and 4 errors played a major role in the setback Tuesday.

Biloxi's bats were red-hot.  Designated hitter Nick Ramirez had 2 hits in 3 trips to the plate, scored 2 runs and had 2 runs batted in.  Ramirez belted his 12th home run on the season in the 4th inning off Biscuits starting pitcher Ryne Stanek (4-2) who got the win.  Stanek gave up 5 runs (5 earned), on 6 hits, 2 base on balls and 3 strikeouts.

Biloxi catcher Adam Weisenburger had a good night at the plate.  He banged out 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 2 RBI and hit his 2nd home run on the season along with a triple.

First baseman Taylor Green was 2 for 4.  Nick Shaw had one hit in 4 trips to the plate, scored a run and had 1 RBI.

The loss drops Biloxi to 49-31 on the season.  Montgomery is now 41-38.
