Two Ole Miss players crack the Maxwell and Bednarik Watch Lists

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Laquon Treadwell was rated as the top wide receiver coming out of high school in Crete, Illinois.  The junior wide receiver has lived up to those high expectations and is among 80 offensive players on the preseason watch list for the 79th annual Maxwell Award, given to the top College Player of the Year.

Treadwell is making a comeback after missing the last four games of the 2014 season.  He broke his fibula and dislocated an ankle in the Auburn game when it looked as if he would score a late touchdown, but fumbled when he suffered the injuries and the Tigers recovered and went on to beat Ole Miss.

Treadwell ranks 13th in Ole Miss history with 120 career receptions.

Defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche is among 78 players on the preseason watch list for the 21st annual Chuck Bednarik Award, which honors the College Defensive Player of the Year.

Nkemdiche had 35 tackles, 4-0 tackles for a loss and two sacks and helped Ole Miss lead the nation in scoring defense, a mainstay of the Rebels Landshark defense.
