PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) -

A grieving grandmother visited the site on Wood Street in Pass Christian where her grandson lost his life in an ATV accident just hours earlier.

Donovan Necaise, 13, was pronounced dead on the scene Wednesday evening, Necaise's younger brother Abryn Enroth, 7, remains in the hospital. Enroth was upgraded from critical to serious condition at USA Medical Center in Mobile.

The boys' grandmother sat in the woods in silence for several minutes Thursday next to the tree where Necaise lost his life. Someone in the community nailed a cross to the tree.

She said Wednesday she reminded Necaise to wear his helmet while riding the 4-wheeler. She described Necaise as athletic, cool and mature. She said he always reminded everyone to be polite and stuck up for anyone getting picked on. With tears in her eyes she said he always wanted to go to the Grand Canyon, but now she would never be able to take him.

A young boy riding his bike on Wood Street in Pass Christian Wednesday evening heard someone yelling, saw the boys in trouble and rushed to get help. He found a neighbor who called 911 and ran over to try and help.

According to police, Necaise was driving the 4-wheeler, lost control ran off the side of the road and into the ditch. The boys flipped and were thrown off the ATV.

Friends of the Enroth family have set up a GoFundMe account to help with medical and funeral expenses. If you'd like to help, learn more at http://www.gofundme.com/ydqh2g
