In the championship flight...three family members have a shot at winning another title. The trio has won the Mississippi Women's State Amateur Championship 14 times.
Mom Cissye Gallagher and daughters Mary Langdon and Kathleen have all captured the title.
Cissye captured the State Amateur championship eleven times and will have to face her daughter Kathleen in match play Wednesday morning. Kathleen won the State Amateur Championship two years ago.
Cissye said, "I have played my oldest daughter Mary Langdon three times I think and I've never played Kathleen. So, this is our first. This will be the first time."
"I've never played her before, "stated Kathleen Gallagher. "Mary Langdon has player her multiple times in the State Amateur. We'll see. I hope we just have run and play the best we can."
Kathleen just graduated from high school and is following in her mom's golfing footsteps. She's heading to LSU on a golf scholarship.
Mary Langdon Gallagher graduated from Mississippi State in 2014 and was a member of the Lady Bulldogs golf team.
She's a two-time winner of the Mississippi State Amateur Championship.
"We've grown up with golf our whole entire lives, "stated Mary Langdon. "It's been a lot of fun. We did that on Sunday afternoon after church. We'd all go out and play each other. I'm the oldest of four so we have an even team of three and three, but playing the State Amateur with both my mo and sister, there's nothing like it."
Jim Gallagher, Junior won five tournaments on the PGA Tour and is now competing in the PGA Champions Tour. He played his college golf at Tennessee and met Cissye through his sister who was also a member of the LSU Lady Tigers golf team. Jim also does reporting on the Golf Network. Now you can see the Gallagher bloodline and the road to success on the links.
The Gallagher's are champions on and off the golf course and have nothing but respect their opponents, especially when it's mom against daughter.
