MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) -

The flooding woes in one Moss Point neighborhood could soon be over. City officials say the Rose Drive flood relief project is 65 percent complete.

The work to fix the more than 40-year-old problem for neighbors began in December. The goal is to redirect the flow of water from out of Rose Drive north to the Escatawpa River.

City officials say so far, new drainage pipes have been installed at Webb, MLK and Carroll Streets. Crews are now working on Fredrick Street and will move to Rose Drive in the next two weeks.

City officials say construction began on the north end because that's where they had to install the larger pipes to reduce flooding.

Patrice Clark will have a full update on the project tonight. Look for her story on WLOX News and WLOX.com.
