BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The Biloxi City Council is expected to take up a resolution at Tuesday's council meeting that would require boaters to slow down on parts of the Tchoutacabouffa River.

The resolution introduced by Ward 7 Councilman David Fayard would create "no wake" zones in some sections of the river.

Residents who live along the river say boat wakes and wave action from jet skis is damaging to the natural shoreline and man-made structures. They also say is creates a public safety issue.

If the resolution passes, boaters who do not slow down in wake zones could be charged with a misdemeanor.
