Deputies searching for prank caller who 'wasted' department's resources

HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Hancock County sheriff's deputies are searching for a man they believe phoned in a prank call. Chief investigator Glenn Grannan said the call wasted the department's resources and money.

The suspect called the sheriff's department at 1 a.m. Monday morning. The caller said he was holding his mother hostage, and he'd shoot police if they showed up. The SWAT team was called in, they set up a perimeter, then went into the house, only to find four people sleeping.

Sheriff's officials are now searching for the person responsible for making the call. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Hancock County Sheriff's Office (228) 466-6900.
