BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

The owner of a popular Coast restaurant said he sees an economic boom coming to the Biloxi Strip, and he doesn't want to miss out. Woody's Roadside in Ocean Springs is preparing to open a second location in Biloxi.

The success of Woody's Roadside inspired the owner to cross the bridge and purchase property on Highway 90 in Biloxi. Jeff Glouner said he thinks the Biloxi Strip is ripe for development, and that's why he's not worried about over saturating the market.

Woody's Roadside is one of Jessica Dunn's favorite spots to have lunch.

"I really like the atmosphere and the food. I really like the steak tacos," said Dunn.

Glouner worked in the restaurant industry for more than two decades in Las Vegas before bringing his expertise to Mississippi. Now, after four years of serving customers in Ocean Springs, Glouner is ready to offer Biloxi a taste.

"This business has become so successful," said Glouner. "We really believe from downtown Biloxi to the area near the Coliseum is ready to explode. I think with the Shuckers coming in and MGM Park being built and some of the restaurants that are being built on the beach."

The new beachfront restaurant will go up between Camellia Street and Veterans Avenue. The restaurant is currently under design.

"We're going to do rooftop dining. We'll probably have a water feature that will run from the roof down into the bottom floor so a water type feature, so to speak," Glouner said. "We'll have two bars. We'll have a rooftop bar. We'll have dining upstairs, downstairs, porch dining and even an outside courtyard area."

The property Glouner bought has been a vacant lot since Hurricane Katrina.

"We're going to be putting something back on the tax rolls, so we want to do something for the City of Biloxi itself," Glouner said. "This is going to be the 10 year anniversary of Katrina, and this is about the time usually after major tragedies that things start to happen, so I think this is a perfect opportunity for us."

As several other restaurants are either opening or expanding on the Biloxi Strip, Glouner isn't worried about crowding the market.

"I think there's room for more growth. There's room for more restaurants. All of the restaurants seem to be thriving," Glouner said. "What we have to offer is different and a little more unique. We put a lot of pride in our food. We've branded ourselves that I think many people in Biloxi and Gulfport have heard about us, so I think we'll do really well there."

The owner of Woody's Roadside said he plans to hire about 40 employees for the new Biloxi restaurant. The restaurant is expected to open in about a year to a year and a half.
