One person is dead and deputies in Jackson County say he was murdered.
Authorities say the body of a young man, believed to be between the ages of 17 and 21 was found Saturday afternoon in this wooded area off Highway 57 with a gunshot wound to the head.
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd says the man's identity is so far unknown and right now there are no suspects.
"The way the body was found was some kids were riding four wheelers out here, and they had a dog with them and the dog went off out into the woods and started barking. They called for the dog to come back. The dog wouldn't come, so one of the boys went out there to see what the dog was barking at. and that's when they found the body," said Sheriff Byrd.
So far a motive is not yet known.
