BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -
If there has been one knock against LSU head coach Les Miles it's been his inability to develop a top-flight quarterback who can consistently lead the Tigers offensive attack.
On Monday 6-2, 216 pound quarterback Danny Etling made a decision to leave Purdue and transfer to LSU. He'll have to sit out the 2015 season and will become eligible to complete on the playing field in 2016.
Etling played in 13 games with the Boilermakers and was the starting quarterback until Austin Appleby replaced him after five games in 2014.
He leaves Purdue having passed for 2,490 yards, 16 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
Etling, a native of Terre Haute, Indiana has something in common with LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. They both played at the same high school.
Sophomore Brandon Harris, junior Anthony Jennings and true-freshman Justin McMillan will be vying for the starting job in 2015. Jennings was recently arrested for simple burglary. According to a police report in Baton Rouge He and two other fellow Tiger teammates broke into the apartment of a man, who they say stole merchandise from Jennings and they went and got it back.
Jennings has been suspended by coach Miles.
Highly sought-after Feleipe Franks, a blue chip quarterback out of Florida, says he'll sign with LSU in 2016. He's been rated as one of the nations top high school quarterbacks. Franks wants to play both football and baseball at LSU. He's also an outstanding pitcher.
