In a surprise move, federal prosecutors have dropped all charges against former Harrison County Utility Authority Director Kamran Pahlavan.

Pahlavan was indicted late last year for his alleged role in a bribery scandal that rocked the Harrison County Utility Authority.

Last Friday, attorneys for Pahlavan argued he had cooperated with federal investigators and that the charges should be dropped, but federal prosecutors said that while informing for the FBI, Pahlavan made some false statements which dissolved any deal he had made.

We have no word on what led the U.S. Attorney's Office to change its mind and drop the charges.

The indictment was dismissed without prejudice, a legal term that means more charges could be brought up in the future.

Former Harrison County Supervisor Kim Savant and contractor Sean Anthony have both pleaded guilty to their roles in the bribery scandal.

They are both still awaiting sentencing.
