JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Singing River Health System's retirees told the Jackson County Board of Supervisors at Monday's meeting they want 100 percent of their retirement checks and they will not take a cut.

Hospital officials recently proposed to fund the troubled retirement plan at 88 percent. The move comes after the health system stopped contributing its portion to the employee plan in 2010. Now it's underfunded by at least $140 million.

Retirees say they will fight for all their money they worked so hard for over the years. They also want supervisors and hospital officials to donate a portion of their checks to fully fund the plan.
