GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

A Georgia doctor charged with running an illegal pill mill in South Mississippi is changing his plea to guilty.

Attorneys for Sanjay Sinha filed a notice of intent to change Sinha's plea. Sinha is charged with 40 federal counts for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell, distribute or dispense. He is accused of selling oxycodone, hydrocodone and clonazepam prescriptions to patients he and others solicited at Gulf Coast casinos between 2008 and 2012.

Sinha was set to go to trial last year, but on the day of trial he fired his attorney. Since then, another trial date has been postponed, and a few weeks ago a judge granted an extension allowing Sinha more time to reach a plea agreement with the government.

No details on the plea agreement are being released at this time, but Sinha is expected to be in court on Monday.
