Celebration set for newly renovated River Park at Lowry Island

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - Pascagoula city leaders are ready to cut the ribbon on a $3.6 million renovation project. On Friday, there will be a celebration at River Park at Lowry Island at 4 p.m.

The ribbon cutting will mark the official end to phase two of the project. The project included a site elevation, parking lot, sidewalks, landscaping, lighting, a concrete wharf, a renovated boat ramp, a fuel dock, pier repairs, park amenities and a designated dog park.

The project was funded through a Katrina Recovery Community Development Block Grant and Tidelands funding.

After the ribbon cutting, there will be a River Dog's Park Celebration until 9 p.m. Four-legged attendees will enjoy an obstacle course demonstration. There will also be a shrimp boil, live music and classic car show.

“We are very happy with this phase of the project, and we hope that the improvements will go a long way in revitalizing this area," said Parks and Recreation Director Darcie Crew.

The River Park is located at 4100 Clark Street.
