BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) -

A gunshot victim in Bay St. Louis has died. Hancock County's coroner says 25-year-old Wes Staten lived in the Bay. Why he was shot overnight on Felicity Street is now the focal point of a police investigation.

Rescue teams rushed Staten and one other victim to the hospital after gunshots pierced their bodies.

Not a lot is known about the circumstances surrounding the shootings, but authorities say the incident happened in the yard of a home at 164 Felicity Street.

Police Chief Mike DeNardo said the shootings stemmed from some type of altercation.

A family member of one of the shooting victims said a group of people had gathered at the residence for a party. However, police have not confirmed that.

The Chief said the Mississippi Crime Lab has been called in to help process the crime scene.

Investigators are questioning several witnesses but so far no arrests have been made.
