Biloxi wants a voice in MS Power's rate increase proceedings

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

On Monday, the City of Biloxi filed a request with the Mississippi Public Service Commission, asking to have a voice in its decision surrounding Mississippi Power's requested rate increases to pay for the Kemper County lignite plant.

According to city spokesman Vincent Creel, city attorney Gerald Blessey argued the city, its businesses and its residents have a huge interest in the outcome of the rate hike proceedings.

Blessey asked the PSC for the right to present testimony and arguments, file motions and cross-examine witnesses during the proceedings.

Creel said a motion to intervene has also been filed by the American Seafood Processors Association, which represents seafood processors along the Mississippi and Atlantic coasts.
