BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - When baseball fans show up to watch the Biloxi Shuckers in action, some of them will see a part of MGM park that's more upscale. On Wednesday night the Shuckers start a five game homestand against Montgomery. Team officials said during the time the players have been on the road, stadium crews have been hard at work especially on the more posh area of the stadium.

After getting their first taste of Shuckers baseball last week some fans said they're hooked.

"Being at the game is always exciting. The hot dogs. The soft drinks. The beers,"said Beverly Baker, Shuckers fan. "Getting into the crowd and the team and waiting on the pitches. It's a good thing. We are going to be there tomorrow night and probably every night this week."

Team officials said crews have spent much of this week working on the upper level. Twelve suites that are able to hold up to 20 people each were not completed last homestand.

"This time tomorrow we'll have the suites open," said Tim Bennett, team owner. "We'll have the party decks. We'll have the suites that will be open. All the furniture that's coming in. Still doing some finishing touches in the suites right now."

Crews are also putting the finishing touches on the Mercedes Benz Club.

"The nice thing about this is it's available for groups on a nightly basis either during the season or in the off season," Bennett said. "It holds about 75 to 100 people with a view of the field. Chair back seating outside and we'll also have air conditioned seating inside with with table tops and chairs."

Team officials the way the Coast has embraced Shuckers baseball is just as exciting to watch as the games.

"We had a sell out the first night and the second night was also good. The homestand overall, we drew a good crowd. We're looking forward to drawing that same good crowd this go around," said Bennett. "The surprise we have now is that a few nights ago we clinched which guarantees us a playoff spot."

The Biloxi Shuckers will take on the Montgomery Biscuits at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday night. In the meantime, Bennett said crews are working on their punch list.

"Some little things like sealing the floors. There are some areas where the ball is coming over the net and hitting the building and doing some damage there," said Bennett. "Fortunately there are no life safety issues that we need to be concerned about and everything we're doing right now is pretty much touch up."
