Pharmaceutical plant expansion to offer more jobs in Gulfport

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

A pharmaceutical plant in Gulfport plans to add more jobs in the City of Gulfport. According Geri-Care, the company will break ground on its manufacturing plant Tuesday, June 23.

Governor Phil Bryant, Walmart EVP of Consumables and U.S. Manufacturing lead Michelle Gloeckler will join Eli Shindler, president and CEO of Geri-Care Pharmaceuticals for the ground breaking for Geri-Care's factory expansion site in Gulfport.

The manufacturing portion of Geri-Care will go adjacent to the company's current facility. Company officials said the new manufacturing plant is expected to bring in 200 jobs once it is up and running.

"We are thrilled to be able to bring more jobs to Gulfport and to partner further with the community there,” says Eli Shindler, President and CEO of Geri-Care Pharmaceuticals. “We appreciate the support of Governor Bryant and all elected officials attending our groundbreaking. It is encouraging to see that Walmart and many other national distributors all share our sentiments that it of utmost importance to keep manufacturing in America."

The pharmaceutical company is the largest manufacturer of liquid antacids in the world.
