WAVELAND, MS (WLOX) -

The Cockatoo bird that was stolen from a home on Wainwright Street on Monday has been returned to his owner.

The bird, named Max A Boo, was stolen along with his cage and several other items. After the theft was reported by the media, someone called the lead investigator and revealed the bird's location, which led to his safe recovery.

"Max A Boo is known to frequently say his name," said Chief Allen said after the bird was stolen on Monday. "The bird's owner advised that he does not like strange people and has a propensity to bite if someone tries to handle him."

Waveland police say the investigation is continuing and arrests are likely.
