It was a very good week for the Biloxi Shuckers. On Sunday Biloxi wrapped-up the South Division first half title and playoff berth. On Monday the Southern League announced that the Shuckers had won its Pitcher and Player of the Week honors.
Brooks Hall posted 2 wins and 0 defeats last week, including Sunday's title clinching victory over the Mississippi Braves. Over 15 innings, Hall allowed one run on five hits, two walks and struck out 12 batters. The Anderson, South Carolina native had an impressive 0.60 earned run average.
In those 15 innings, opponents had a .102 batting average. He led the Shuckers to a 2-1 win over Mobile on June 8 and a 9-0 decision over the Braves on June 14. Hall, Milwaukee's 4th round selection in 2009, carries a 7-3 record with a 3.05 ERA over 12 starting assignments.
Shuckers outfielder Tyrone Taylor was red-hot at the plate and takes home the Player of the Week honors.
Taylor batted .423. had eight runs, 11 hits, six extra-base hits, 21 total bases, four doubles, two homeruns. eight RBI and a pair of stolen bases.
He had a .464 on-base percentage and didn't strike out. This is Taylor's second career weekly award after he earned Midwest League honors on June 10, 2013.
He's batting .277 with 14 double, a triple, two home runs, 27 RBI and six stolen bases. Baseball America ranked the Brewers' 2nd round pick in 2012 as the top prospect in the Milwaukee organization.
