Two South Mississippi nonprofit organizations are coming together to educate the community on racism. Steps Coalition and the East Biloxi Community Collaborative are partnering with The People's Institute for Survival and Beyond for what they are calling a unique experience.
The event will focus on understanding what racism is, where it comes from, how it functions, why it persists and how it can be undone.
Through a signature workshop, spectators will get a chance to be involved in role playing, strategic planning, intensive challenges and other educational activities that allow participants to analyze the structures of power and privilege that hinder social equality.
The event will be held on Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at DeMiller Hall in Biloxi.
