Biloxi Shuckers extend South Division lead with 3-0 win over the Mississippi Braves

PEARL, MS (WLOX) - Biloxi (38-24) held the Braves (32-29) to four hits while the Shuckers banged out 10 hits to post a 3-0 shutout victory.

Hobbs Johnson gave up three hits, a walk with eight strikeouts and pitched seven shutout innings to post his fourth win of the season against three losses.  Mike Strong worked the final two innings and picked up his 3rd save on the season.

The win extended the Shuckers lead atop the Southern League South Division to 5.5 games over the Braves.

Klye Wren, Tyrone Taylor, and Parker Berberet each collected two hits for Biloxi.

Nathan Orf belted a sacrifice fly to left field, that gave the Shuckers a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth.

In the eighth inning, Biloxi's Michael Reed delivered a RBI single to center field and the Shuckers led 2-zip.

Taylor hit a RBI single in the inning to close out the Shuckers scoring.

The Shuckers and Braves clash 5 p.m. Sunday at Trustmark Park in Pearl. Biloxi leads the five-game series 3 games to one.

Manager Carlos Subero will send right handed pitcher Brooks Hall (6-3, 3.47 ERA) on the mound on Sunday.  The Braves will counter with right-hander Jason Hursh (2-4, 5.18 ERA).
