GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Four people had to swim to safety Friday morning when their 26-foot boat overturned in the Gulfport Harbor.

According to Gulfport Fire officials, the boat capsized in rough seas on the southwest side of the port. No one was injured, but the boat will have to be pulled from the water.

Boat owner Buddy Hall said he just bought the boat a few days ago, and was looking forward to taking her out Friday. He said the bad weather came through suddenly, and before he knew it, water started coming in overboard.

Hall said he called 911, but had to wait 10 minutes for dispatch to find the number to the Coast Guard. He said that was very troubling.

Reporter Michelle Lady spoke with Hall and will have more of his story later today on WLOX News and WLOX.com.
