WLOX Editorial: Remember your good manners

Excited and loud friends and relatives of some Mississippi High School graduates were recently charged with disturbing the peace at the graduation ceremony. Senatobia Schools Superintendent Jay Foster said the out of control cheering meant some families could not hear their graduate's name called or see them receive their diploma.

It is an important achievement. We certainly understand the desire to cheer; while at the same time, the desire of all to be able to hear their graduate's name called at this milestone in life.

We should not need arrests to enforce instructions to hold cheers. The school system apparently agreed in the end and dropped the charges. What we really need is self-restraint, respect for others, and plain ole good manners.

That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to editorials@wlox.com.
