BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -
Jacob Taylor made his presence known on the mound the Pearl River Wildcats in 2015. The 6-3, 215 pound right handed pitcher consistently threw a fast ball clocked in the mid-90s.
Pro baseball scouts kept a keen eye on Taylor all season long. In the fourth round of the 2015 MLB Draft, the Pittsburgh Pirates selected Taylor as the 127 overall pick.
LSU head baseball coach Paul Mainieri would love to see Taylor pitch for his Tigers in 2016, but he's also realistic. He believes Taylor will sign a big contract with the Pirates.
Besides Taylor, Desoto Central High School standout... Austin Riley was drafted by the Atlanta Braves, the 41st overall player taken in the draft. He's a 6-2, 230 pound third baseman.
