Biloxi Shuckers with another record-setting night at MGM Park

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - 24 hours after Shuckers shortstop Orlando Arcia hit the first-ever home run in MGM Park for Biloxi, Taylor Green and Tyrone Taylor wrote their names in the Biloxi Shuckers history book.  The duo came up with the first-ever back-to-back home runs for the Shuckers in MGM Park.

Mobile led 1-0 in the top of the second on a Matt Jones RBI single into left field that plated Zach Borenstein.  The BayBears added another run in the top of the third on a single off the bat of Borentstein that scored Jack Reinheimer.

The Shuckers would take a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Taylor Green ripped a two-run blast over the left center field wall that tied the game.  Tyrone Taylor was the next Shuckers batter and he delivered a solo-homer that sailed over the left field wall.

Following that record-setting fourth inning, Biloxi exploded for 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Mobile scored its third run in the top of the sixth inning off Shuckers starting pitcher Hiram Burgos.

Reliever Austin Ross, the former LSU Tiger, replaced Burgos in the seventh inning, but he would give up 4 hits and 2 runs and was relieved by Trevor Seidenberger.  In 1.2 innings, Seidenberger gave up no hits with 2 strikeouts.

Mike Strong pitched the 9th and picked up his second save of the season.  He didn't give up a hit and tossed a strikeout.

Burgos (3-0, 3.68 ERA) posted the win.  He gave up 3 runs, 2 earned, on 3 hits, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts.

Left fielder Kyle Wren and Michael Reed both had a big night at the plate for the Shuckers.  Wren was 3 for 4 with one RBI.  Reed had 3 hits in 4 trips to the plate and scored 2 runs.

Third baseman Green was 1 for 4 with that 2 run homer in the fourth inning for his third home run on the season. Tyrone Taylor had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

The Shuckers improved to 36-22 and are now 14 games above .500. Biloxi manager Carlos Subero has his Shuckers running at full-speed ahead.

You can expect to see a number of Biloxi players named to the South Division All-Star team that will be announced on Wednesday.

Biloxi now leads Mobile 3 games to 1 in the five-game series that will come to an end tomorrow night at 7:10 at MGM Park.
