BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) -
Kevin Burdine captured 263 wins in 13 seasons at Biloxi High before he and his three assistant coaches were forced to resign two weeks ago due to some of his players use of non-smoking tobacco.
Burdine guided the Indians to the 2015 Class 6A South State championship finals before losing to Oak Grove 2 games to 1 in the best-of-three series.
Biloxi closed out the 2015 season with 22 wins and 13 defeats.
In his 13 seasons at Biloxi, his Indians captured 5 District Titles and were runnersup in the South State finals twice.
Burdine told WLOX Monday night that he's ready to build Bay High into a contender.
"I appreciate the opportunity the Bay-Waveland School District is giving me and I look forward to coaching the young men at Bay High, "stated Burdine.
