BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Inside MGM Park, everything seems to be in perfect working order, but on the outside, crews are still hard at work finishing up the last few steps of the $36 million project.

“We've got the parking garage construction that's still underway. We hope to have that wrapped up sometime in August. We've got the south entrance that's also underway, and we're going to try to get that done as soon as possible,” said Andy Westfall, who is the project manager.

The Shuckers have now played three games at MGM Park, and Westfall says it hasn't been easy working around all of the excitement, but they are making do.

“It's a challenge because there's some issues. We need to stay away from the team's personal items and keep those secure, but the team's being real good and working with us on that,” said Westfall.

The team was granted a temporary certificate of occupancy for fans to be on the first and second levels of the stadium, but the suite level, which is on the third floor, is still under construction.

“We anticipate the suite level being finished for the 17th series. Once that's finished, then the fan experience, we think, will be 100 percent complete,” said Tim Bennett, who is co-owner of the Shuckers.

While the stadium still looks like a construction zone on the outside, Bennett says that may be a good thing for the citizens of Biloxi to get used to.

“If you look at other examples, like Pearl and Pensacola, after the ball park is built, there's so many other things that go on around the ball park. We've got some announcements that we'll be making fairly soon that will keep this area under construction even outside the stadium,” said Bennett.

Yates Construction has until Aug. 4 to complete the stadium. Westfall says they will most likely use all that time to ensure the stadium is 100 percent.
