GEORGE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

George County Sheriff officials are awaiting DNA samples before releasing the identity of a murder victim found buried in the woods last week.

Sheriff Department Public Information Officer Shonna Pierce said DNA was taken from people whom investigators believe are related to the victim. Those samples are currently being tested at the state medical examiner's office.

Investigators say an anonymous call made to the department on June 2 claimed someone had been killed and buried in a wooded area off Odom Road in the Rocky Creek community. After finding evidence found at the scene, investigators were about to quickly link Josh Vallum, 28, to the killing. He later turned himself in.

Vallum is currently behind bars with a $1,000,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Cedric Howell.

Detectives have not released a possible connection between Vallum and the victim.
