BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Home game number one is in the books for the Biloxi Shuckers. With a brand new event like this happening in the city, there's a lot that can go wrong. According to city leaders, Saturday night's game went off without a hitch.

Sunday morning daylight showed a baseball field at rest after a long, 14-inning matchup. The stadium was empty, except for those making preparations for the night ahead. If home game number one was any indication, game two is bound to be a success.

"We didn't have any parking issues. We didn't have any traffic issues," said Biloxi spokesman Vincent Creel.

Logistically, the first game at MGM Park couldn't have turned out better for the City of Biloxi, and it wasn't by accident.

Creel said the city had well thought out plans in place, in hopes of a smooth night of baseball.

"This was a first time event, so we tried to have a plan that we thought would work, and it worked," Creel said.

Caillavet Street and Howard Avenue were partially closed, and the downtown area was sprinkled with parking spaces and CTA transportation. The CTA is one thing that was missing for game two, because the transit authority doesn't operate on Sundays.

The next thing that will happen is a rearranging of resources.

"The police department's going to sit down with the mayor and see what worked and see where they can cut back on man power," said Creel.

As for the second home game, the fans are excited to enter the brand new facility for some Shuckers action. The first pitch for Sunday's matchup with the Mobile Bay Bears was scheduled for 5:10 p.m.
