BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

When the Shuckers take to the playing field in Biloxi's MGM Park Saturday night, they'll be playing on American Star Field. Overtime Sports and the city of Biloxi announced Friday that American Star Vodka has purchased the naming rights to the field.

The deal will mean roughly a million dollars to the city, through annual payments of $50,000 a year for 20 years. This year's payment will be reduced, based on the number of home games missed.

The owner of the brand, Ascendant Spirits Inc., is based in Santa Barbara County, CA. Ironically, according to the distillery's website, Ascendant spirits are not sold in Mississippi at this time.

"We are excited to be entering into this collaboration with MGM and Overtime – each American Stars in their own right," said Steve Gertman, Ascendant's president and master distiller. "In particular, we want to thank the City of Biloxi for this opportunity to launch the American Star Vodka portfolio on the Gulf Coast. We hope the Shuckers and the entire Brewers organization have a great season."
