HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

A man is behind bars Tuesday afternoon after reportedly leading authorities on a high speed chase in Harrison County.

According to Captain Clay Jones with D'Iberville Police, a neighbor called police around 12:43 p.m. that a burglary was in progress at a home at Avondale Circle in D'Iberville.

Witnesses told police the suspect kicked the door to the home and took several items. Then fled the scene in a dark colored Chevy Camaro. The man drove into Harrison County and that's when Harrison County deputies assisted in pursuing the suspect.

According to Major Ron Pullen with the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, the man was driving in excess of 120 mph and eventually stopped on his own around 1:45 p.m.

He was arrested and Harrison County deputies charged him with felony fleeing. Major Pullen said the Mississippi Highway Patrol also assisted in the chase.

Capt. Jones said pending an investigation, more charges could follow.
