Two people shot in Wiggins overnight

WIGGINS, MS (WLOX) -

Investigators with the Wiggins Police Department are trying to determine what sparked a shooting overnight that sent two people to the hospital.

Corporal Richard Gulledge reports officers were called to a house on South McGregor Street at 1:10 a.m. Tuesday. At the scene, officers discovered Kevin Barney, 27, was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to upper and lower body.

During the investigation, Gulledge says officers were approached by a witness who told them there was another victim of the shooting at her neighboring house. That's where detectives found Treyvone Young, 19, suffering from a single gunshot wound to his lower body.

Because of the severity of Barney's injuries, he was airlifted to an area hospital. Young was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.

Gulledge reports no arrests have been made, yet investigators are following up on several leads and information they've received.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Wiggins Police Department at 601-928-5444 or MS Coast Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898.
