BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

With the Biloxi Shuckers set to play their first home game on Saturday at MGM Park, the City of Biloxi and the Shuckers are busy getting ready for the game.

The center field scoreboard and video board is up and running at MGM Park. The Biloxi Shuckers beat the clock with a June 1 deadline in place.

When the city amended its lease with the ball club, an agreement was put in place that stated the team must finish the audio and video work at the stadium.

"The video board is up. Actually, we have both done, which is great. The secondary board was the one we would have used as a backup. It was done three weeks ago. We finished the primary board this week. We've got it wired and power to it. Both boards will be operational by June 6," said Shuckers co-owner Tim Bennett.

If the work was not done, the Shuckers would have waived fines on the city for missed home games.

So far, 25 games have been missed, and Biloxi has paid $10,000 per game. With $250,000 already lost, Biloxi was anxious to eliminate the penalty clause, as were the Shuckers.

"People working out here, fans coming to the game, teams that come here and stay in hotels and our team staying at apartments. There's so much money that is lost when we're not playing here," Bennett said.

Technical supervisor Gary Williams and his crew are putting the final touches on the video setup at MGM Park. Four cameras will be used for instant replays and color shots around the stadium.

"The fans are really going to enjoy watching the games and the video displays," according to Williams.

Bathrooms and most concession areas will be good to go for Saturday's home opener. The suites are nearing completion, the seating is ready and the field is in good shape.

When fans experience the first home game Saturday, Bennett says they will hardly notice the work that still must be done.
